Ian McDiarmid is a senior actor and director from Scotland who rose to prominence due to his prominent role in “Star Wars” as Emperor Palpatine. He achieved further recognition from Shakespear’s play Hamlet in 1974. He has achieved many international accolades and awards, including the Tony Award and an Olivier Award.
Born on 11 August 1944, Ian McDiarmid started appreciating stage and theater plays at 5. He spent a prominent part of his career in British theaters, where he had been a part of “The Tempest,” “Macbeth,” “Every Good Boy Deserves Favour,” “The Merchant of Venice,” “Hamlet,” and “King Lear.” In 1990, he ventured into the direction field along with his fellow Jonathan Kent at the Almeida Theatre.
