Elizabeth Lee McGovern was born on the 18th of July, 1961. She was nominated for three Golden Globes, one Academy Award, and the Screen Actors Guild Award. Her portrayal of Lady Cora Crawley, Countess of Grantham, on the British drama Downton Abbey (2010–2015) has earned her two Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe Award nomination. Her performance in ‘Ragtime’ (1981) as Evelyn Nesbit earned her an Academy Award nomination. After debuting in Elizabeth McGovern movies in 1984, she appeared in ‘She’s Having a Baby’ (1987), ‘The Bedroom Window’ (1987), ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ (1990), and ‘The Wings of the Dove’ (1997).
Prior to joining Sadie and the Hotheads in 2007, she studied guitar for years and has since released four albums. She has received Golden Globe and Emmy nominations for her portrayal of Countess of Grantham, Cora Crawley. In both the 2019 and upcoming sequels, she reprises her role as Cora Crawley. McGovern also worked with Julian Fellowes on the British drama series Downton Abbey. The Chaperone, which she starred in, was written and directed by Julian Fellowes.
