Amanda Plummer was born in New York City on March 23, 1957. Besides studying at Middlebury College in Vermont, Plummer took acting classes at the Neighborhood Playhouse.
As a child, she grew up riding on the East Coast and in Ireland and took care of horses. In the early 1980s, Plummer began appearing in small to mid-sized roles on television and in films.
Plummer’s first successes came from her stage performances. The 1981 revival of A Taste of Honey marked her Broadway debut as Josephine. She was nominated for a Tony Award for her portrayal of the character.
Amanda Plummer is best known for her roles in Joe Versus the Volcano (1990), The Fisher King (1991), Pulp Fiction (1994), and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013).
